Discover the beauty, balance, and tradition behind one of the most iconic ceramic forms in this immersive full-day Moon Jar masterclass, led by our guest ceramicist Neil Rampton. Neil is renowned for his exceptional Moon Jars, celebrated for their elegance, scale and craftsmanship — this is a rare opportunity to learn directly from an artist whose work is highly respected in the field. ► Course date : 19th April 2026 ►What You’ll Learn In the morning, you’ll begin with 2–3lbs of clay, exploring the core techniques used to form a classic Moon Jar shape. This smaller piece helps you understand the structure, balance, and joining process before scaling up. After lunch, you’ll move on to a 9lb - 12lb ball of clay to create your large Moon Jar. You’ll learn how to manage weight, maintain shape, and form the signature rounded silhouette. Demonstrations and 1:1 support are provided at every stage to help you succeed. ►What You’ll Take Home At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with two Moon Jars — a small practice jar and your larger final piece — both professionally bisque fired and ready for glazing at a later date. ►Who It’s For This workshop is suitable for potters who have some experience working on the wheel and feel comfortable handling at least 5–8lbs of clay. Beginners with prior wheel experience and intermediate potters looking to expand their skills will both benefit from this focused, technique-driven session. ►What You Get: • All clay and materials • Expert tuition in a small group of just 6 students • Two bisque firings (small + large jar) • Tea, coffee, and a warm, supportive studio environment Minimum Age: Participants must be a minimum age of 16. Please get in touch 2 - 3 weeks after the workshop to collect your work. Please note: The course will run if we received a minimum of 2 bookings.
