1. Policy Statement

Fatclay Pottery Studio located in the John Pounds centre is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all children participating in our pottery programs. We are committed to safeguarding children from harm, abuse, or exploitation while promoting their artistic development. This policy outlines the measures in place to ensure child safety and safeguarding within our pottery studio.

2. Principles

  • All children have the right to feel safe, respected, and protected from harm.

  • Every adult working in our pottery studio has a responsibility to prioritize the safety and well-being of children.

  • Open communication and collaboration with parents or guardians are crucial for effective child protection.

 

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Pottery Studio Staff:

  • All staff members will undergo background checks before starting their employment.

  • Staff will receive training on child protection policies and procedures.

  • Staff will be attentive to signs of abuse and will report any concerns to the designated safeguarding officer.

3.2 Designated Safeguarding Officer:

3.3 Parents/Guardians:

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to communicate openly with the pottery studio staff and report any concerns promptly.

4. Code of Conduct

  • All staff and volunteers must adhere to a code of conduct that outlines appropriate behavior and interactions with children.

  • Physical contact with children should be limited to what is necessary for their safety and well-being.
